Tail Gas Scrubber Works with
Existing Cupola APC Systems to
Meet New Air Regs
Limits on foundry particulate emissions are now 0.006 grains per dscf for existing cupolas.
Tests have shown that these particulate limits can be met by retrofitting existing equipment, whether
wet scrubber, electrostatic precipitator, venturi or baghouse, with a "CCS" tail gas scrubber. Total system operating pressure for the CCS air pollution control system is just .75" w.g. (water gage)
per stage. Also minimizing operating costs is the requirement of less than 1" of pressure drop per stage. The CCS tail gas scrubber primary charge modules require just 600 watts of power, less than 1/100th
the level of an ESP (electrostatic precipitator) power draw of 60,000 watts. The CCS air pollution control system scrubs fumes, gases and odors simultaneously with particulate.
If a foundry wants to remove SO2, it can run caustic through the addition of NaOH, or it can run acid
to remove ammonia. This unique air pollution control system is adaptable to individual foundry
requirements, and does not require changes in air handling. The most efficient particle distribution for a CCS tail gas scrubber is 0.1 to 5 microns. Removal
efficiencies of 99.99% and higher for foundry particulate of 0.1 microns to 300 microns are achievable.
CCS handles inlet grain loadings in excess of 1.5 grains per dscf, reducing loads to below 0.003
grains per dscf. At one foundry, the particulate reading into the CCS was 0.0156 dscf. In standard tests, the CCS
air pollution control system, performing as a tail gas scrubber and interfacing with the existing
wet scrubber, achieved .0030, .0020 and .0030 grains per dscf respectively. The CCS Tail Gas scrubbers does not use packing, filters or other high-maintenance disposables.
It is a proven, cost-effective air pollution control alternative for foundries and steel mills of all types
and sizes. (NOTE: For larger particulate, see Whirl/Wet® page.)
Tri-Mer engineers and manufactures an air pollution control system for virtually every foundry
requirement. Our air pollution control technology includes wet scrubbers, acid scrubbers,
dust and particulate collectors, and more. We specialize in efficient new equipment, and in the retrofit of existing foundry air pollution
control to meet new APC regulations. Specific foundry applications for a Tri-Mer
air pollution control system include:
- Foundry Cupolas
- Acid gas scrubbers
- Core scrubbers
- Sand shake-out and sand handling
- Dross and slag processing
- Aluminum shredding
- Shot blasting
- Asbestos grinding
- Air pollution control for melting systems
- Cooler exhaust systems
